Fabrica PCB's - 2005-6
DESCRIPTION:
Projects made for
fabrica that resulted in making and using customized printed circuit boards.
-
Fabrica USB Interface:
This board was designed to take sensor information and send it to a computer through USB. The board can emulate both HID and CDC class devices (human terms: it can emulate a mouse / keyboard AND fake a comm port, pre-usb serial.)
A great resource for this board was Dan O, and the USB WIKI
-
Fabrica Touch Sensor:
The touch sensor board was built to work with the USB Interface. The Touch Sensor is powered through the USB board. The sensor value is buffered by the same power and returned to the USB board.
This was used in the Home Entertainment project collaboration with Colette and Fabrica
-
Conductive Ink Tests:
I conducted a number of tests with a conductive pen - which basically acts as drawable-solder. Using the 'ink' as a conductor and therefore the sensor area of a
qprox capacitance sensor, I found it was possible to detect human touch through the thick glass typically used in Store Fronts. Therefore offering a way to supply an input to interactive installations on the inside of a store - from the outside.
