Alive in Joburg

I was recently sent a link to one of the most fantastic short moviesw Ive ever seen: “Alive in Joburg” by Neill Blomkamp. Its alien refugees meets apartheid south africa. On one hand its a particularly clear representation of Johannesburg as it is today – while at the same time being totally a “what if style” alternate reality. Watch it! YOU CAN FIND IT HERE
(I have never seen Johannesburg in this type of film… it just adds to the eeriness… CG in SOWETO??? wow.)

This is completely unrelated to what sounds like an interesting film about Joburg.

Let me take this opportunity to make a public display of affection. I would just like to say Dan, tu sei un bello uomo. It’s out in the open now, everybody knows, no need to hide my love for you anymore.

Today I kicked around a basketball with my mates and dominated them like it was 1976 and I was Julius Erving. It felt goooood…

Now, after finally completing an article on a boring Sydney house I’ve been stewing over for a week, I will finally go upstairs to bed, pausing on the way to shave off the seedy moustache I’ve worn since a rocking 80s un-new years party on Friday night which included a limbo competition you could have sewn up.

Hope to hear from you soon.

    D
